Educational Programs for Students – Preschool through Sixth Grade

Life on the Farm: Study the Past
Learn How Grandma and Grandpa used to live.

Enrichment programs are “hands-on, hands-in” programs designed to give students a unique learning experience that places the history of farm life in rural Illinois within a context that they can understand and appreciate.

During the two-hour programs students will experience life on the farm in four different areas. Some of the activities are: (others are available)

The Agricultural Heritage Museum*

In the Fields*

· See the 1920 Titan tractor and others

Learn about Bees

· See an antique baler & other equipment

Crank the handle on the corn sheller

· Listen to an old time peddler

Learn about & use old carpentry tools

· Ride on the wagon

Learn how sorghum is made or rope
   
Home Life on the Farm*

Kids Area*

· Learn how soap is made

Roll the hoops

· Make & sample home-made butter

Try winning the sack race

· See a display of old irons, etc.

Participate in 3-legged races

*Activities will depend on the day, as all demonstrators may not be present on scheduled date. Requests may be made.

Morning programs are from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and afternoon programs are from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A picnic area is available under the pavilion. Enjoy life in the country as you eat your lunch. Orange drink will be furnished free of charge. Programming will begin on April 15 and will run through May, and then again immediately after Labor Day and running through October.

Reservations are required and groups are limited in size to a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 65 students. Cost is $3.00 per student, payable upon arrival. Please make check payable to Tri-County Antique Club. One adult is free for every 7 students . Please phone Elizabeth A.
